If you have a copy of your relatives attestation
papers, please ensure that the segment referring to "Educated at",
Educated at
are completed as per the instructions on the document,
i.e. the School must be
indicated and the initials of the recruiting officer are entered into the
right hand box. This is a statistical trap used to count the number
of boys enlisting at the age of 14, it is also a head count for each
school. Not completed? Then the boy was not admitted.
Check for your family name in the Name Index. Confirm Regiment, father & mother's Christian
names and age of the student and the year of admission.
Then check with
the statistics files for further confirmation via the census index's
from 1841 to 1901.
