Most census returns are limited to Location, Male or female, married –unmarried and employment. This report contains additional facts that will enable researchers to home in on their ancestors with Birthdays, their father’s Regiment, the Regiment Volunteered to or to whom apprenticed to.
Of the 407 boys entered into the official Census, each has been cross-referenced to the available data in the remaining ledgers of the RHMS. Each line of data, commences with the location within the ledger named. 27X + S5 represents WO143/27 and index page S5.
The four ledgers are available at the National Archives, Kew.
